thx man
You say you get a disk read error...... what type of dvd are you using what brand? what size is the ISO/gcm file? is it the full 1.4 GB (or something close to that) or is it maybe an 1/8 of that size?if it's not the full size disk then thats the main issue...... try getting a full 1.35 gb ISO these are full rips.
@Luigi you can't use gamecube stuff with the USBloader.
Old topic but, i stoped that and started using ISO Loader, do u know where i can get a DVD Formatter? IMGBurn says error cannot Earase.

but the wii mote got turned off, I pressed A anyway but no answer, I tried pressing A on the game cube controller but nothing happend.
any help?
y put all the necessary files on the SD so I dont know why I cant install the patch
If ur having trouble with the MOIS Installer, try the BackupLaucher MOIS Installer, that will make it work, im sure. THIS WORKS WITH 4.0!!!

WOOT! This is great, thanks for this :P
Alright guys, sorry to be bugging you about something this outdated by I really want to be able to use this on my Wii/HBC.
I am running system menu version 4.0E. I have downloaded the AR homebrew app, as well as the MIOS installer, HOWEVER:
When I try to run the MIOS patcher, it has a wall of text and at the end it has something like, 'do_wad() failed with rv = 1'. Obviously something went wrong.. I also tried to run just the action replay app, but it loads and then hangs on a black screen after saying the disc has been loaded etc.
I tried the wad fix that Hell's Guardian suggested on Page One, however I can't get past the first step as Wad Manager 1.3 will NOT let me install the required wad.
Is there any possible way of me being able to get this app on my Wii without the need to downgrade? :O

Disregard my post, I was able to solve my problem by running any title deleter. I deleted my mios, and I was then able to run a custom version of wad manager by using the bannerbomb method to load the boot.dol of it. This allowed me to not only install the necessary mios, but I also did this again (but changing the boot.dol) to downgrade my IOses so that I can just run it all through HBC later.
Cheers for your reply, though, luigiman.

How do you choose the codes for the Action Replay? I can boot it up fine and it'll say "Launching AR" then it will boot straight to the game.

I had to use hawkeye's method of installing it (Deleting the original then installing the patched one with WAD Installer), so I believe that counts as applying it.
I DO have AR114.dol in the root of my SD. It just said "Launching AR" then went to the game.

If none works, try Hawk's method, but when before u install the secodn WAD, use the WiiGators MIOS installer. Thats how it worked for me.

Just wanted to say that Bomberman Generation does NOT work with this. "An error has occured."
Star Fox Adventures doesn't work either. The Nintendo logo appears and then "An error has occured." Star Fox Assault seems to work, though.

hey umm, ive been trying for this the last 2 days. Ive gotten to the point in which i have all the files, i have firmware 2.2 from downgrading, and in my sd card root i have ar114.dol,Rvl-mios-v5.wad.out.wad, and the apps in the apps folder.
when i try to run the mios patcher my wii hangs and my wiimote is incapable of synching, but i can do it in wadmanager, i used SD2gc to copy the files but at the end it has a code dump, and then im capable of resetting my wii, then when i use ar114 in homebrew it looks for something in like dev/di
that isnt found, and then it goes straight to the game, help?
Nice work. My find on the internet was put to good use.
I was the one who originally found the ar114.dol in a really old archive (I had accidentally named it ar14.dol) I was the 1st worldwide to make a youtube video describing how to use it with SD Media Launcher, but many others made videos of their own, and stole my total video views...and my pride.
My original video:
Many asked me if this was possible to use with the Homebrew Channel, when it first became publicly released. Now that I have my Wii back from a DVD-drive error from half a year ago (it's fixed), I am glad this is available.
I'll update my video's description with a link here, and possibly make a new video.
And yes, it took me a year of searching to find a way to run the original AR software on the Wii, because Nintendo seemed to have blocked all Datel discs except SD Media Launcher and AR 2.0+, which is crap.
I'm sorry for such a long post, but I compared the two AR files (yours and my original)...perfect match. Even if you found it elsewhere, all I'll say is that this file was nowhere on the internet. I found it in a place no one would look, and I'm willing to bet that my youtube video release spawned many other people to upload the file/link to mine.
I just want the original credit. Thanks, and awesome job!
So i joined this place for this topic. i want to use GCAR b/c my GC died (may it rest in piece) so i have been trying all day to get this bloody thing to work and to no avail. now b4 i start getting replies of things to try let me try somemore of the already mentioned tips before i go bothering you all. just thought i'd give forwarning of my bitching to come lol
EDIT:
just broke my controller i need help. . .
Last edited by Eclipse; 07-06-2009 at 09:51 PM.
Really? That's very strange.
So far, I tested SSBM, MK: Double Dash, and Pokemon Colosseum so far. They all work. I'll test my other games like Metroid Prime and Super Monkey Ball 2 when I get my chance.
Make sure you don't use an SDHC card (High Capability, usually all 4GB+ SD cards are HC these days.) It seems this homebrew app doesn't work with HC. Could the author possibly fix that? I use an HC card, and would like to not have to switch cards.
Also, try a different memory card in slot B. It's possible yours doesn't work with it. (NO NINTENDO BRAND, you need a 3rd Party card)
What happened to your controller? "Broke" is very vague..
Well im using a 250 some mb sd card i dont thinks its HC (bout 99% sure) my GC mem card is some off brand (i think it is didnt have any official stuff on it that i'm aware of) and as far as my controller. . . I slug in across the room in an angry attempt to intimidate my wii to load the AR and it cracked and no longer responds.
. . . I don't have anger issues... >:l

sry, but rofl!
ok, well...what exactly happens? What's the farthest you can get trying to load it? (as in, when is the time you have to restart your Wii and try again?)
What is on the screen?
Well i did the mios and i have the ar114 thingy in root and all and when i load the ar it goes to the game and skips the ar but i have no idea as to why... i'm more then sure its going to be something so obvious that i will scream for hours about after it is fixed.

This is starting to sound like either the ar114.dol is not loading correctly, or you need to use a different MIOS patcher.
Try this one: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nkjmjgkhyzt (Sorry, I had to re-upload it. I couldn't find where the original link was. I did not make this app, credit to the original author.)
Copy the folder into the apps directory on your SD card.
But, 1ST!!! Uninstall the other MIOS patcher 1st! If your old patcher says MIOSPatchingWADInstaller, then you need to use the one I'm giving you. People say this one works better. Make sure you run the old MIOS patcher and uninstall before continuing.
Then, run the new patcher, and install it. Now try the GCAR loader. I believe I had the same problem you had, but I also believe this fixed it...
Thanks for the link upi noticed something when i ran it this time (i must have not caught before) when it gets to the end (or at least what i assume is the end) it says something about failed-1017 not sure if that has anything to do with my problem or not but just figured it was worth mentioning.
Also thanks for all help it is much appreciated![]()

@troop116rules Actually I do believe you would be wrong about being the first to find that dol. you see the dol wasn't found. It was extracted from a disk image of the disk. The disk contained only a few files.
A custom built Opening.bnr file.
A custom built apploader.
the dol file
A padding file (It was used for absolutely nothing aside from taking up space and giving the disk a larger area of actual data as to make it easier for the lasser to read.)
and that was it if I'm not mistaken. the data was easily unscrambled early on in the Gamecube homebrew scene long before the wii was even announced for release. Simply put this gamecube software was all datel's achievment. On the other hand the tool for the wii that can load datels dol file while patching it to bind to the disk id of the disk in the drive at boot so it would actually load the gamedisk was all a homebrew hack. This was the hackers work. one managed to get homebrew in gamecube mode to load from wii mode wich was quite a feat in it's self. unfortunately his hack didn't allow for disk loading from a homebrew app to work..... This was fixed with a binding patch.... a half assed work around that binds to the disk already inserted in the drive. This is a royal pain meaning if you sudennly decide to play a different game after loading the app you had to start all over again.
None the less thats my input on it.
Ok, I'm sorry that I assumed. Yeah, I was in a really bragging mood. Sry about that. I really am just pissed that I didn't get any recognition for finding this out. Oh well, I guess that's how this world works..
Well, good job anyways...I've updated my youtube video, though nobody is watching it... xD
Thanks.
so not to be a bother but is there any more advice you could give me? perhaps the error code i mentioned in my last post would be any help as to what to do?

Meh, this thread isnt too old so ill post. I need help anyway.
So, Im trying to get the debug menu on SSBM. thats all I want to do. So, I put the ar114.dol in the root. I also put the MIOS in the root, plus I copied it and pasted it into the "wad" folder. When I tried to apply the mios patch, I couldnt because my wiimote stopped responding. So I tried pressing A on the gamecube controller. nothing happened. When I try booting the Action Replay app in the homebrew channel, It boots all the way though but never goes to the Action Replay, straight to the game... Ive been reading the posts here and I have no idea whats wrong.

Use the MIOS patcher from this and if you can use the online install.

If you can't use online then place the unpacked wad file on your SD card as indicated here. Assume that the 000000001 folder is on the root of the SD card.
MIOS Version 4 is also supported.

How do I edit the codes I have on?
The Action replay codes? you edit it through the Action Replay Menu. It's an all in one cheat device. If you've ever used one for any system you will quickly figure it out or you can try google. Adding codes is also disscussed on datel's site. (Datel made the damn Action Replay for the GC.)
Looks like I've got a new problem. I had used Waninkoko's 4.1 Firmware Updater and it probably (Most likely) re-installed the original unpatched MIOS, so it disabled the AR. I went to get the files for the method I used last time, but AnyTitle Deleter showed an error and it failed to delete the MIOS like last time, so now I'm stuck with a non-usable channel until someone can make up a new method that makes it compatible with Firmware 4.1. I do not want to downgrade. Should I try the online method Hells Guardian posted?

Damn it's been a while! Quick question (cause I wanna get to the point and use this, :O), have you guys found an effective way of getting HBC onto the Wii with SM 4.0? And does this wad still actually work?
yes. use banner bomb to launch the hackmii installer to install the HBC DVDX and/or Bootmii. It will work on an umodded system. just do what it tels you on screen and the HBC will install no problem. Wads will not install on a newer system menu version without downgrading the IOS's. this is also quite easy and possible to do.
hi i was wondering do u still need the ar114.dol file in ur sd card to make the action replay channel work cuz wen i clicked on the channel it said ar114.dol not found and then i had to restart it and what if i put in a gamecube backup will that register and let me use the action replay codes
Hello everyone here at GSCentral! I'm Smash Br0 from gbatemp.net. I was linked to this topic in my efforts to figure out how to use Action Replay codes on Gamecube games played via Wii... Preferably without the actual Action Replay disc and memory card, since they are so rare and expensive now (around $80.00-$160.00 ATM). I finally tired of waiting for a decent deal on eBay, so I've turned to resourceful boards such as this one to get Action Replay and save some (much-needed) money.
Anyhow, I'd like to use this thread as a base until I get this figured out, if you don't mind. I'll make a separate topic if necessary... Hells Guardian, I'd really like your advice, as you have been so helpful to others in this thread. I'll explain where I am so far:
I installed the Homebrew Channel and BootMii (as boot2) on my US Wii, which I got at launch. I used the beta 2 HackMii installer to install those... I also installed DVDX on a whim, though I plan not to use it (so as to preserve the disc reader). My Wii's firmware remains at 3.2U. That's all I've done so far --- I'm unsure how to proceed from here.
I really want to use this Action Replay Application, but I've read that updating to 4.1 via Waninkoko's 4.1 updater is recommended over at GBATemp... I also want to be able to play the newer games I've purchased which require higher firmwares (AC: CF, MPT, & CoD WaW)... But I've read that this Action Replay app will only work with lower ones.
If necessary, I'm willing to buy another early-model Wii just to use for this Action Replay app at this point, since I can find one for about as much as real Action Replays cost online. o_o
I don't know much about hacking and homebrew from here on, post-HBC/BootMii installation, but I'm reading Nabster's guide and Deviyl's guide over at GBATemp... However, I could really use some guidance from someone with experience, and considering how important this Action Replay app is to me --- I've got a large library of legit GC games begging for AR codes to be used on them--- I think this is the best place to ask for help.
I hope to hear from someone soon! Thanks very much in advance...
ok first you will want to update your wii. I personally advise using waninkoko's updater to get to the latest System menu. I then advise installing CIOSCORP v3.4 as this will allow for you to use backup games through the disk channel. I then advise using the Latest CMIOS and GC Backup loader from Wii gator to install the latest version of his CMIOS. this will allow you to load backups of GC Games through the disk channel. (you do not have to have this but it is the most convienent method IMHO and fairly safe all around. Once you've done this you will want to find and download an ISO of the Action Replay disk for the Gamecube and burn it to a DVD disk. you will then launch this disk in your wii like a normal GC game and then choose the region setting for your wii. (pressing a should auto detect if I recall correctly.) then you can use the action replay and manage your codes ect ect and then either load a backup game or a retail game with your selected cheats active. If you would like any futher detail please feel free to get back to me. BTW this loader too is highly outdated and the backup loader method has so much better compatability.
WIcked bumping here, glad I found your thread, Ive been stuck on that god rosaken half pipe in MP2 for ages, and now I can finally get past without scouring the world for the last remaing AR disk.
Hello GH,
Dunno if you are still doing this but i thought i would let you all know that this does work on 4.2U (YAY) but i have one itty bitty problem. whenever i get into the AR it ask for my hardware, so i through in my memory card with only AR data on it from the install pack. well it did not work and i was wondering if you could help me out?
For some reason, I get an error saying "This is not a Valid Wii Application" when I try to use MIOS Patching WAD installer.
Also, whenever I try to load GC AR codes onto a game by AR V1.14 Loader, It goes to the game instead of going to the codes.

The reason for the second issue is that the MIOS has not been patched.
how do I patch it?
i need help hells gaudeian when i load mois patcher it says this faild rev=1 help me plase i want to add codes
The RET=-1 Error occurs because your system does not have a vunerable IOS on which to run the patcher. Before attempting to install this patch you must restore the trucha signing bug to at leasat one IOS on the system. I advise following the instructions on how to install the cIOS and doing so before using this patch.
Hey guys Im new to modding anything but Im having quite a bit of trouble with the MIOS everytime I load the patch the loading bar comes up and then the screen goes black and freezes. I have been watching the forum and looking at other websites for an explanation, but I still cant find one. If someone could help me that would be most appreciated!
When i try to run the mios patching wad installer, i get a black screen that has options to install or uninstall the mios patch but i have no idea how to select an option (srry if this is noobish). On wiibrew it says that a gamecube controller is the applications peripheral but i cant seem to select anything with the gamecube controller.
Someone plz help me out!, i am very close just need to figure out how to install mios patch and im almost there.![]()
Okay...I know its probably too late to even be replying on this thread but hey, gotta at least try O_o' Having some issues putting the AR loader on my wii (thats not a first...) but instead of breaking my wii I thought that I'd get some help ^^' I know you guys are probably going to ask system an everything so I'll just say it here right away. My wii system is 4.2u pretty much all updated O_o I just installed homebrew on it the other day through bannerbomb which was already hard enough XD I installed HB, DVDx an Bootmii, and....thats about as far as a got...don't have anything else on it besides "Action Replay V1.14 Loader" and "MIOS Patching WAD Installer" so far when I try to into the WAD it says not a valid application... O_o'...an I read through the forum yet I don't really understand how to upgrade or downgrade? Any help would be appreciated guys D=
don't use the looader. just follow the instructions to downgrade a 4.2 wii and instead of installing a new system menu just stop after the CIOS install and from there just install the GC backup loader for the wii. It should then be able to be used to load a backup copy of the disc. if your system has the "fixed" DVD drive then you will have to simply resort to this method. BTW if the MIOS patch fails to install it's most likely that thbe wii needs a vunerable IOS. This means you need to install the CIOS used in my downgrade method for 4.2 wii systems. It's the key to modifying the system software.
ok i did all these steps but when i got to the part where i had to copy the ar data to the gc mem card, it froze when i tried to copy the gci file. is this because im using the first party card?
my wii froze when i tried to copy the gci save to my memory card,im using a first party one
Does Anyone Know Were Can I Get A Clean Mios? Without The Rvl-mios-v5.wad.out.wad Patch?
Hey, can you launch gamecube BACKUP games with the AR launcher??
Hi everyone,
I know it's an old thread but I have a little problem, which never appeared in this thread.
MIOS installer was okay I got it to install it.
But when i start the AR loader i got a green screen and then it turns black!
But my wii didn't crash I only can't controll anything.... it is only black

Sorry for posting on a basically dead thread, but I thought you'd like to know: The link for the direct download of the Action Replay channel or whatnot from mediafire died. New link, please? I'm being a bit lazy at the moment after spending several hours trying to input one new code from here into AccioHacks, Cause I can't use the Twilight Hack/Ocarina/WiiRD stuff. Would be much appreciated.
To be honest this is kind of useless.... what year did you buy your wii? if its an older one that can use disc backups you are golden If not I'll make a channel for you. If need be I can always throw something togeather for you. Channels are easy to make. Either way just put your wiis serial number through here
http://www.wiidrives.com/identify
Then tell me what it tells you.
If you have an old enough type of drive you can just burn a copy of the action replay to a dvd-r and be able to use it to cheat on retail and backup GC games (With the appropriate cMIOS of course). (Backup means a copy of the original. I'm not telling you to commit a crime by stealing a copy off the web... but what you do with the knowledge I give you is your option.)
I'm pretty sure I wont need to enter my serial number in order to tell you that my Wii is new. Like.. Extremely new. o_o I bought it earlier this year. Like.. In Febuary or so. o_o; So.. Yeah? I'm not real tech-savvy. ._.;
Ok Well in that case I can whip up a channel for you just let me find some graphics for it.... Unless you have some in mind? It will be very simple and crude as animated channels take some time to produce well.
Though I may not be able to do so any time today. I was up at 5am this morning so I might be to bed very soon...
That's fine, HG. Take all the time you need. As for the graphic for the channel, would it be possible for you to animate the Action Replay Max disc? Like have it rise up from the bottom of the screen and start spinning in the middle after a moment? o.o (It's the type of AR that I used to use. xD )
Okay, okay. I wont be picky then. After all, you're the creator. x] Do whatever is easiest for you. Maybe just like a purple background with the words "Action Replay Channel" Fade in, in a bold font with white text and black outlining? Would that be simpler? > >;
Thats probably quite easy. I'll give it a go later today. Do not attempt to install any channel I make if you don't have priiloader or bootmii boot2 installed on your system. Priiloader would have to do for you as your system is too new for the boot2 replacement.
Alright, awesome beans. Looking forward to the channel. =]
For those that have a reason to want this channel here Is a pretty nice and well done Action replay channel that I managed to create out of A Channel for Swiss that I made.
Enjoy!!!
Animated GC Action Replay channel.
http://www.mediafire.com/?ekerzr93abts4ry
Give that a try and let me know how it works. Oh and if it gives you a black screen while loading the channel make sure you have the AR114.dol file on the root of your sd card and that you have IOS58 installed.
Sweet. Once I get Priiloader installed, along with the channel, I'll try it out and tell you the results. Hopefully it wont be too difficult for me to understand. And since my wii is extremely new, it already has IOS58 or whatnot installed. =] Standby for updates. -- Edit: I seem to be stupid or something. I've got Priiloader, but how do I install it onto the wii? I tried using the bootmii function of Homebrew, but that didn't work. It just froze the console. ._. -- Double Edit: Whoa! I didn't know there were so many things done when installing the Priiloader on the Wii.. I don't want to mess up my console.. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Priiloader
Last edited by K.P. Koopa; 04-21-2011 at 03:23 PM.
Installing priiloader does two things. It moves system menu and installs in it's place. It has a few features that are very nice. one is the ability to use system menu hacks such as the block updates patches. It also allows you to set a few other things but the hacks are all you will really want to use. With priiloader installed though you don't completely brick your wii if you encounter a banner brick from a bad wad or something. I normally advise against priiloader on bootmii boot2 compatible wii's but on wiis like yours Priiloader is the only real brick protection available. Installing it is easy just make sure you have the priiloader installer (renamed to boot.dol) in a folder in apps. so if you have the apps folder on your SD card open it and make a new folder called priiloader and then put the boot.dol file in there.
Personally I Advise you take a look at modmii and use it's wizzard guide to walk you through the whole process. It will download and prepare the files for you and all you do is copy the files to the SD card and follow the instructions it gives you in a text file. Once done with that your wii should have priiloader and all the latest cIOS installed from there you can install any channel you want without having to worry about it causing a brick.
As for doing damage to the wii as long as you follow everything in the modmii guide to the letter you should have little to no risk at all. Litterally hundreds of people have modded there wiis using it and not a single brick. That right there speaks for the reliability of the modmii method.

Ugh. I can't download the Modmii stuff required to run the Priiloader. I'm using a dial-up connection, and it's so slow that it keeps killing the download part way through. So yeah.. Mission aborted I guess. =[ Sorry HG.
Hmm. I could upload the version of priiloader that Modmii gives you as well as all the hacks files for you. In the mean time that channel should be avoided. I tried it and it works fine it's just I don't want you to brick because I am only human not to mention my system can't compare to any out there because I'm using a set of hacks that aren't out there So I don't trust anything that works on my wii to on others...
Ahh, alright. That would be good if you could upload the version of the installed modmii that includes these settings (Virgin, USA, Wiichat (w/e that one thing was.), Already in FAT file type for the SD, allow additional protection against bricking) If I'm missing anything, lemme know. --- Edit: Ohhh. Channel for Priiloader. Okay. xD Either or is fine, as long as I'll be able to eventually get the stuff working correctly. (By the by. I don't know how to manually add new applications into the Wii. Like taking them straight from the SD card and installing them into the Wii. Well, with the exception of when I installed the Homebrew Channel. Whenever I use the normal Bootmii application on the HB channel, the console freezes.)
Good to see I'm not the only one with problems.
I tried to use the ar114loader.rar and I end up either at a black screen (power-off Wii) or it skips directly to the game (PSO)
- There is a EMS USB memory card in slot A with the GCI save
- I have a GC controller in port 1
- I have HBC 1.0.8 running
- I just ModMii'd my Wii, so the MIOS is currently "RVL-cmios-v4_WiiGator_GCBL_v0.2.wad" (as loaded by MMM)
- I tried using older ARloaders (1.08, 1.09) to no avail; the best that happened was 1.08 went to a "malloc error" screen with a color test pattern.
I used Multi-Mod Manager to load "RVL-mios-v5.wad.out.wad" (repeatedly) and it said it completed with no errors every time. I presume this does nothing because WiiGator's MIOS is in place?
Should I try to find an earlier MIOS WAD for MMM to load, run the AR to load the codes, and then re-load WiiGator's MIOS?
I am using the latest HBC, I don't know what CIOS is (If it was ever included in any of the Wii updates, then I've most likely got it since my wii is practically brand new), and that would be awesome. All I need to install the stuff is to just run the Smash Stack exploit again, right? And make sure I have an ELF file?
Well if you have the HBC I can prep a package from modmii that you can use. It'll be uploaded to a fileshare site so you can download at whatever rate your connection allows for. as for the package I'll get the instructions all written up to on exactly what order to do what. You'll have your wii ready to go. Do you use the USB loaders at all?
Oh and to make sure before I send you the wrong file package you are on 4.3 right?
Yeah, I've got the HBC. And it'll be great if I can get an instruction manual or something to go along with the download stuff. Eagerly awaiting the instructions and download stuff. Thanks for your time, HG. -- Edit: Yeah, I am using 4.3

Using the 4.3 U. Not much more to add to that, I suppose.
OK I'll have the package up within the next 4 hours
This package is set up such that it will overwrite your MIOS with wiigators cMIOS 0.2 v4. It will not allow backups to work but will work perfectly for your needs either way. It will not cause any ill effects as long as you follow the modmiiguide.txt file precisely. you can skip the hbc install but everything else needs to be done.
Oh I also included a theme and theming app for you too. you can install it if you want. everything is in the modmiiguide.txt file so have fun. here is a link for the download. just copy the contents of the copy to SD folder to the SD card and go.
Link
Removed
Oh and it may cause trouble with SSBB custom stages because it does include the Smash stack exploit. to avoid that problem don't copy the private folder from copy to sd and you'll be fine.
Let me know as soon as you start downloading this so I can remove that link. it has a large number of material that I shouldn't be posting a link to.
Not sure if the last post I made got through.
I've done the ModMii method, using wiigators cMIOS 0.2 (I'll presume its v4?) -- I can still play GC games, but whenever I load either the AR 1.14 channel (BIN) or AR 1.14 DOL through HBC, the black-screen that says the AR is loading comes up, but if the screen doesn't freeze, I just go directly to the game.
Does this mean the AR doesn't like wiiGator's cMIOS, or do I need an actual AR disc?
Uh hey, go ahead and remove the link. I wont be able to download it right now, since with dial-up it would take quite a while to get the whole file. Keep it on a bookmark or favorite though, because I'll be heading into town at some point and I'll be able to get the file using the library highspeed connection. Sorry. :[
OK well I'll leave it up for you but I'm just going to PM you the link.
Sorry I missed you. this is most likely because you don't have the AR1.14.dol file on the root of the SD card. make sure you have that there and the booter in the HBC as described in the first post. If you are able to play GC backups consider trying a backup of the action replay disc instead. if not then best luck.
Better late than never. Huh. Is there a reason I can't see my own posts? (I could have sworn I did something at the I AM NEW section.)
Actually I have a file labeled AR114.DOL in the root of the card. Should it be renamed? When I run the ARBooter114, the black screen pops up, and if the screen doesn't lock, I can see the wiiGator screen show up for a split-second before the game begins.
Even though ModMii changes all the IOS files to allow backups to be played, wouldn't I still need a chipped Wii for it to read DVD+/-R or CDRs? I also have an SD adapter for the GC; would it be easier to launch the AR114 from an unmodded GC?
I'm not sure why but the post moderation feature hasn't been fixed yet. It requires newer users to be moderated.... I've approved your posts so you can see them her. as for the problem it sounds like 1 of two things is going wrong here. either you don't have a patched MIOS or you don't have the AR114.dol file on the root of your SD card.
Try following modmii to bring all your IOS and cIOS/cMIOS up to date and get things patched correctly. look up modmii with google if you don't know what it is or where to find it and make sure you have the AR114.dol file on the root of the SD card that should fix the problem. I hope it works for you.
Well I did run ModMii; it gave me wiiGator and only one IOS file didn't get downloaded.
I tried renaming the DOL file, but ARBooter114 was actually smart about this and explicitly said it needed "ar114.DOL" -- do I need the GC controller or memory card to be plugged in at this point?
Before I try loading AR114.DOL onto a memory card and creating a backup to test, will a non-chipped Wii or GC read DVD+R or CDR, or do I need to use DVD-R?
If your wii is older it can read backups. however what you need is to put AR114.dol on the root of the SD card with a Memory card in slot A and B and a GC controller connected. You must also have the Game disc in the System at the time that you load the AR booter. make sure you install everything from modmii and then run ARbooter with the above in place. and you should see the Action replay boot. Try a different SD card if the one used doesn't work.
Nope. Re-ran ModMii; I've updated all my IOS files and kept the stubs and still nothing.
A game is in the console, a GC controller is in player 1, and I managed to dig out a second memory card for slot A.
I'll have to ask to borrow someone else's SD card (really? why?), but I do see two things. One: the AR loader won't tell me what game is being loaded. It just says something like clear VT/DI, game loading, AR loading... and then a garbled screen comes up (like snow/static from the pre-HD days)... and the GC game starts to load.
Also, last I heard was that backups had to be on DVD-R format; all I have are DVD+R discs. Any reason why I can't use those? (I do know that for some reason Wii's won't read CDRs, regardless of model type.)
I borrowed a fresh SD card with just the Apps/AR114 folder with just the AR114.DOL in the root directory, still nothing.
"Opening DEV/DI" "Resetting DI interface" "Reading disc ID" "TV refreshes" "GC game starts up"
I'm under 4.1U (originally 2.2U), boot2v4, I've got Wanikoko's cIOS or Stub for IOS249 (v21003), an empty Nintendo 59-block in slot-A (and again with game save), an empty EMS 1019-block in slot-B (and again with AR1.14 data, and again with AR1.14 data and game save), a GC controller in port-1. Any step I'm missing?
(The only other thing I bring up is that my Wii system menu is being REALLY LOUD. The icon beeps when I select a channel seem to cause slight tweaking from my TV's crappy speakers, even on its lowest volume setting. Was this from ModMii or have I just been away from my Wii for too long? Next I'll be trying to upload the AR114.DOL onto the SD Gecko next and trying that on my GC.)```

Well, the one I borrowed was empty. The one I own has these folders:

FAT 32 is the right format... This is very strange. what cMIOS are you running? the one from this thread or one of the backup loader ones from modmii? also is it SDHC or just SD? this app doesn't work with SDHC unfortunately...
Did not know that.
One's a Sandisk, the other is a Panasonic.
I've tried loading Phantasy Star Online Plus, Harvest Moon: Magical Melodies, and Robotech: Battlecry
Looking at YouTube clips, the part where the PAR menu is supposed to come up is a screen-freeze (the TV blinks a non-moving static screen, then green to indicate a refresh) and then the game begins to load. I've tried having a game save on the Memory Card and with a clean card; doesn't seem to do anything.
I did reach a RGB testing screen once; haven't been able to duplicate that again. I think I may have seen the PAR menu in the static; no idea why it jumps to the game though as I don't press anything on the GC controller or Wiimote.
Is there a version conflict with the newer IOS that ModMii downloaded?
