    03D1 - 0? ß10’s digit
    03D2 - 0? ß 100’s digit
    03D3 - 0? ß 1,000’s digit
    03D4 - 0? ß 10,000’s digit
    03D5 - 0? ß 100,000’s digit

Got 'em. There should be a guide under Tools that will explain the conversion process.

Hmm, I looked awhile back and I didn't quite find the explanation I needed. I have a list of what letter corresponds to what hex value, but for some reason one of the values is always 8 digits higher than it should be. >:( Maybe someone knows how to fix this?

I know the tool on the FCE emulator is a bit off. When I convert the code to a GG code it changes to the address 83D0 I'm not sure how to fix it either.

    First time posting here.

I was making some codes for 3-D Worldrunner in FCE Ultra and found 3 codes. The first 2 are:

    00E0:03 Infinite Lives
    008B:20 Infinite Time

    and the weird one:

003A:05 No pitfalls, no enemies (run to the end of each level and fight the boss)

This last one I found while trying to get infinite lives. You basically just run through the stage without having to jump or fight anything. You can see the gaps as they approach you, but they turn to solid ground as you get near them. Strange.

I've been finding codes for NES games on FCE Ultra (and before that, NESten) for quite awhile now. If anyone has any requests I'd like to give them a shot. In the game Snake, Rattle and Roll I got it so the warp rocket always appears at the end of the first stage. I basically froze it there so it can't move. If anyone wants to see the code let me know.

I know for SNES codes, there is a difference like Hi-ROM and Lo-ROM codes. This involves subtracting 0x200 from some codes to get the actual ROM address. Donkey kong Country is one such game. Basically, when you subtract 200h from the found code, you are basically stripping the SNES header. When you add 200h to a code, then you are again using the SNES header. NES roms may also fall into this same situation. This is explained on the NES Hacking guides floating around the NET as well as this site. Tony Hedstrom also has docs about NES and other system hacking as well if you wish to compare opinions and methods, etc.

    EDIT****
NES Roms all have a $10 byte header which must be compensated before converting ANY Hex/WRAM code into a GG code or it will not work. Basically, any Hex code in 6502 NES Assembly that you want to turn into a GG code first must subtract the $10 byte header from. So if your code address is 1337 in Hex then subtract 10h from it and you will have 1327. I could go on but then I would be trying to write yet another 6502 ASM guide and truly, that is tiring. However Tony Hedstrom has a nice one.

    Try this one:

    Or this one:

Hey, it's Sanojei! It's been awhile since I've seen you post here.

Ah, that's definitely good to know, though it's not helping because...well, I think I'm missing something. My code is 0513, right? Well, after changing it into a GG code, it comes out as 8513...and I'm not sure how to fix that. If I could get it to convert right, I'd be able to take off $10 and probably get it to work, but I'm not sure how to make that happen...

The Game Genie code I made that gave me the 8513 was "AAPALI". It definitely doesn't work, but maybe someone can look at that and see what I'm doing wrong...?

And yeah, Rune, the SNES does have a lot of unhacked games. I just have a lot more NES roms than I do SNES, and I suppose I'd like to have a bit of experience under my belt before I go on to SNES hacking.

Hey Rune, I went to check if my 3-D Worldrunner codes were online and noticed that the codes for the game are each listed twice. Don't know if it is supposed to be like that or not.

I am working on codes for the Famicom game Transformers - Comvoy no Nazo. I discovered the ultimate code: it makes you invincible, gives you the ability to fly and endows you with the spread shot: 0053:255

A tough game in which people thought ended at Stage 9 because it was a maze. Years ago, before discovering you had to get through the maze in an exact route to move on to the boss of that stage, I found the value that controlled the stage you started on:

006A is the address. Set and freeze one of the following values at the title screen to start on that particular stage (remember to unfreeze it to advance to the next stage or you will keep playing the stage over and over):

    00 - Stage 1
    01 - Stage 1 Boss
    02 - Stage 2
    03 - Stage 2 Boss
    04 - Stage 3
    05 - Stage 3 Boss
    06 - Stage 4
    07 - Stage 4 Boss
    08 - Stage 5
    09 - Stage 5 Boss
    10 - Stage 6
    11 - Stage 6 Boss
    12 - Stage 7
    13 - Stage 7 Boss
    14 - Stage 8
    15 - Stage 8 Boss
    16 - Stage 9
    17 - Stage 9 Boss
    18 - Stage 10
    19 - Final Boss

I believe the double code listing is a fault of the import program. From what we have seen as a collective group, it only affects certain pages.

Some codes that were sent in recently need to be added to the online site first. That should happen in the next while -- no time has been set for that.

I do have your latest codes, 'tho.

Rune, you play through the game as Ultra Magnus. If you can manage to collect the letters to spell the word RODIMUS during the course of the 10 stages and manage to beat the game, then you can play as Rodimus Prime (he took over as the leader of the Autobots for Optimus Prime back in the 80s).

With the above code you can now play as Rodimus without having to do all that other stuff

In FCE Ultra I tried finding the values for the letters you collect to spell RODIMUS but failed. When I beat the game and started again playing as Rodimus, I paused the game and started a decreasing value search. I then reset the game, started as the regular character (Ultra Magnus) and paused the game in the exact spot and searched for decreasing values. I got about 20 results but the one that stuck out was the 255:0 result. I took that address, froze the value at 255 and started a new game and to my surprise was playing as the hidden character. I then plugged different values other than 255 in there and found that value 1 was the same as 255, so I went with that. I learn more about this stuff every time I experiment with it.

I'll be working on the Famicom game Galg (Zunou Senkan Galg) soon. It is a shooter where you have to collect 100 parts (of something) over 30 levels. You can only get 1 part per level, but in certain levels you can get bonus parts, but you can also lose parts. If you finish Level 30 without the 100 parts you loop back to Level 1 where you continue to hunt down the parts. It gets progressively harder when the levels reset back to Level 1 too. Lets say you have 99 parts after completing Level 30 and you collect the 100th part in Level 1. You still have to play through to the next Level 30 where you will fight the final boss. With luck you want to collect part #100 in one of the later levels.

Anyways, I am hoping to find the address for how many parts you have as well as the address that controls what level you are on. I want to make the game easy for those that have suffered through it without beating it for years. It will be cool to start on Level 30 with all 100 parts so you can take on the boss. I have heard stories of people who have had this game for a couple decades that haven't had the patience and skill to finish it.

HG, I'll give it a shot later tonight. I know a lot of NES codes have been found already, but I want to find stuff for the obscure Famicom games. There are quite a few that you don't need to know Japanese to play through...those are the ones I will go after.

I wish I would have started submitting codes years ago. I'm sure I still have the cheats I've made over the years saved in a folder in FCE Ultra somewhere, but it would be a pain to dig 'em up. I think most of them have been infinite lives, energy, invincibility...the basics, but I know I have come up with a few weird ones over the years. I kinda lucked into that Transformers one though.

either way it's pretty much luck with all of these.

The infinite health code that I actually had trouble finding was for Power Piggs on the SNES. I found one to keep the donought full but you would still die after a few hits. I tried finding one again and found an istant death code. I tryed changing the value but nothing did anything but kill me instantly. I then thought that hmm if I can't seem to find an address through this method. What if the value for the code increase instead of decrease. Well long story short I was Right. for some reason the programers went away from traditional health functions. either way thanks to random thoughts I managed to figure it out. lol and people tell me I have no imagination. :D

HG, that's awesome that you discovered the value went up instead of down. I was looking for codes in an old Color Dreams NES game (it was either Silent Assault or RoboDemons) and I was getting so pissed because I absolutely could not find the value for the life bar. I don't know what made me do it, but I did exactly what you did and used an increasing value search as I lost energy and sure enough it worked.

All of my invincibility codes I find come after either (1) finding an item that gives you temporary invincibility and then doing a decreasing value search as your invincibility runs out, therefore giving you infinite time on your invincibility item. However this doesn't always work because sometimes you need to have the actual item in your inventory for it to work. If you start a game with this kind of code then there is a good chance it will not work until you pick up the item.

    (2) The other method I use comes from the temporary invincibility you get either when starting a new life or after getting hit. Again, I use a decreasing value search right as the temp invincibility begins and do quick searches until I am no longer invincible. The value is usually 0 at this time, so you can eliminate a bunch of codes that are not 0 and then test the ones that are.

The invincibilty code I found in Transformers was after picking up an item that gave you temp invincibility. However, once I cleared the stage and started the next one I was no longer invulnerable. I actually checked what the value of the address that was one digit before what I thought was the proper address while I was invincible and set it at 255 and lucked out. I didn't even need the first code I came up with...that second address was the only one I needed.

I'm sure you all know these methods I described, but I'd love to see how some of you find other codes.

all the invincibility codes I've found were codes that just tricked the game into thinking you had just been hit therefore making you invincible. I would set a search and then get hit and search for an unequal value and repeat. most of the time this method works and most of the time you don't even blink. That is the reason I always use that method. and I've found that some values can also make you invisible with this particular method.

Hmm...couldn't you just tell the game that you permenantly have full life? Like a health modifier? I figure that'd be just about as invincible as you could get.

Invincible usually means ghost-like properties for the user. Infinite health just makes your lifebar constantly full or near maximum levels. The second of the two can cause you to move backwards when hit while the first code prevents the collision.

I also like invincibility codes where you can walk through enemies, rather than infinite energy codes where you get knocked back. However, there are some games where because you can walk through enemies you cannot pick up or acquire needed items as a side effect. I can't think of a particular game that this has happened in, but I know it has to me at least a few times.

Anyways, I finally got into that Famicom game Galg today. I figured out the address that determines how many "parts" you have. You need to collect 100 parts to beat the game, but if you don't have all the parts by Area 30 you warp back to Area 1 to collect more. Unfortunately the stage select address I found worked to an extent, but for some reason the later stages graphics were garbled, so I got rid of the code.

Here is what I have for Galg:

    0075:00 - Infinite Parts
    0072:03 - Infinite Lives

There is no item (that I found) anywhere in the game that makes you invincible, nor are you invincible upon starting a new life, so no invincibility code for this game.

    Sent.

I wonder how many people actually beat this game back in the day. For shooters, it is quite difficult, as there are a lot of bullets flying at you in certain stages and not a lot of room to work around. There are no shield powerups, so you get hit once and you are done.

They could have been programmed by the same company...I'm not sure who programmed Galaga though. While Galaga takes place on one screen, Galg's levels are scrolling.

Galg is so cheap that even if you do manage to collect all 100 pieces and get to Area 30 to face the boss, if you do not destroy him before he scrolls off the screen you get sent back to Area 1. Talk about unforgiving!

well I found a code for a level modifier I however believe it is the same address that adaml found and if so would like partial credit to go to him.

    Galg

Level Modifier (the upper values are a little glitchy though.)

    0074 ??

Play around with thew values and You may find a few previously unknown levels. I got to area 66 and gave up.

HG, I believe that is the code. I tried starting on Level 30 with it and the screen was all garbled and you can't avoid crashing into a wall. I wonder if there is another code that would go with it?

it is possible that at a certain value the levels just repeat mabey you could find a repat of the level with a certain value. Either way I would like credit to go to adaml. I'll test it further when I get a chance.

I ain't getting email replies to the topic no more...weird.

Dual credit is cool, HG submitted the actual code. In fact, he put it on the board first, so he should get credit.

I've been playing a Famicom Disk System game called Koneko Monogatari - The Adventures of Chatran. It is an old game (1986) by Pony Canyon, the same company who put out Super Pitfall. The coding feels almost exactly the same and I think the main character in the game is supposed to be Quickclaw, the cat you have to rescue in Super Pitfall. Those annoying frogs are even in this game.

Anyway, I came up with timer codes that freeze the time number on the screen, but it counts down anyway, as I died from time running out. I won't submit that one, but I did find a handy code for it:

    072C:86 - Invincibility

I got this by finding an item that gave me temporary invincibility and after repeated decreasing value searches tried an increasing value search as my temp invincibility ran out and the increasing search actually got it. That's fucked up weird.

HG, the timer problem? I'm guessing the address right before or after the 3 addresses that controlled each digit of the timer would probably be something to look at, but I got frustrated with it. There seems to be plenty of time to get to the end anyway, but if you want to explore every tree an infinite time address would be useful.

I can but for now I have a few codes to submit.

    Legend of Prince Valiant (U)

    Max/Infinite Time
    0289 09
    0288 09
    0287 09
0286 09 <--this is an address I found for the final digit of the timer. The rest were already found.

The Above code must be turned of at the end of the level.

    Score Modifier
    00F6 ??
    00F5 ??
    00F4 ??

    ? = 0-9

The values at these addresses are not hex. They are standard numbers 0-9 choose your value

Do not use any of the following before you have entered the main game. (Started playing where you can move around) after you activate the codes simply kill yourself and you will start on the level, sublevel, and sub sublevel you set it to. It would be very wise to disable them after this is done.

    Level Select
    004A ??

    Sublevel Select
    004B ??

    Sub Sublevel Select
    004C ??

This is a highly unbelievable level of customizeable level start choices.

    Enjoy the codes.

lol. not with those codes. I would love to find an invincibility but their doesn't seem to be one. I'm also looking for 1 hit boss kills but unfortunately I gave up because I didn't want to play it. Each boss and different type of enemy has a different address for their life bars.

I've been trying like hell to get an invincibility code for NES Sky Shark. This one is hard because you are never actually invincible during gameplay. There are no powerups to pick up for invincibility and you do not start a new life with invincibility. The one I found for Sky Destroyer was pretty easy but this game is kicking my ass.

Thanks HG. I understand the having to work thing. Sometimes I get home from work and am too damned tired to do anything, but finding codes is actually fun...unless you are trying to find the invincible code for Sky Shark

I gave it a whirl again today for about 15 minutes today but still couldn't find it. It is probably something really simple. At least in Sky Destroyer when you got hit there would be a fireball on one of your wings. I got lucky enough where freezing the fireball there seemed to make you invincible. There is no clear cut thing to search for in Sky Shark. When you die there are 3 or 4 puffs of smoke for your destroying ship then it disappears. I keep trying to find values for these puffs of smoke but am running into a brick wall.

hmmm would you mind posting codes of the infinite health nature or anything that will give me a reference point. From my experience the addrees tends to be within a 100 hex digit value of the health codes so It'll help narrow the search a bit. sometimes not though.

It is one of those 1-hit death games. There are codes for lives and bombs:
    0021 lives
    0023 bombs

A game like this is definitely in need of an invincibility code as even with infinite lives you get sent back a bit when you die. It's not like one of those games where you continue on the same screen when you die. An infinite lives code would be sufficient if that were the case, but unfortunately the game is a bitch that way.

Yeah, you guys got my back. Between the lot of us we should be able to crack this thing. I don't even care if the plane is invisible or crushed looking or whatnot. I've been playing this game for years and I just want the freedom to fly unhindered, destroying everything without worrying about a thing.

Well, i made it so you can't shoot. And the sprite for your plane stays (kind of, it flickers... alot)

    But you still die.

Okay so, i checked for just before the two sprites overlap. Just after, and at the time when they first overlap. Each of these returned (after a few tries) about 150 results. So, i freeze them all god dammit. You still explode. :(

On a side note, in slow motion, with rapid fire, the game gets rather easy. :-\

Haha, SK, I appreciate you trying to find it. I ran into the same problem, where I thought I was onto something and froze a bunch of results and then watched my plane explode anyway. Even Ghosts N Goblins has an invincibility code...this game has to have something. I'll try again later when I'm less irritated. Maybe a new take on things will clear my head. If only there was a damned powerup somewhere in the game that would help the search...

That was probably in the 100's of results i found, if only id tried pressing up. :

Anyways, if the case be, that you lose control of the plane, and get put off screen. Then perhaps getting exploded constists of be moved off-screen. And the game checks if the player is off screen to see if its exploded, rather than if they collided with something

Whatever the case may be, that is awesome! Exactly what I needed for that game. I see the address wasn't really that far off from the lives address either. Thanks a ton man! The only thing bad I noticed was that the game tends to freeze up after a few minutes. Oh well, beggars can't be choosy

I know I'm a little late on this but here is what I gathered from Koneko Monogatari The Adventures of Chatran...(This game is such a pain!)

    01. 0704:05 - Inf. Lives

    02. 417:78 - Zoom past levels (NOTE1)

    03. 72D:03 - Only need 1 "H-E-L-P" letter instead of 4

    04. 706:?? - Stage "Scene" Select #1 (NOTE2)

    05. 719:00 - Inf. Time

    (NOTE1)

While f/x on, you'll quickly auto scroll through each level. You still may die if you fall or get hit by an enemy.

    (NOTE2)

Switch f/x off after you load a stage.

    01 - Scene 1/Jun.
    02 - Scene 3/Jul.
    03 - Scene 5/Aug.
    04 - Scene 7/Sep.
    05 - Scene 9/Oct.
    06 - Scene 11/Nov.
    07 - Scene 13/Dec.
    08 - Scene 15/Jan.
    09 - Scene 17/Feb.
    0A - Scene 19/Mar.
    0B - Scene 21/Apr.
    0C - Scene 23/May
    0D - Scene 25/Jun.

    2007 Aether Knight (Aether-K)

FYI this game is actually based off of a japanese movie remade in the US and titled "The Adventures of Milo and Otis and has nothing to do with Super Pitfall (although you can tell this is an early Pony Canyon game) Kinda reminds me of Dr. Chaos too...

I see all kinds of cool NES/Famicom codes going up on these forums lately (Squashed, Free Fall, Hero Quest, etc.). Awesome stuff. That Chatran stuff is neat too. That timer code irritated me for awhile.

Anyways, I was able to determine (using the invincibility code ) that Sky Shark definitely has no ending. Once you beat the big plane at the end of Stage 5 the game loops back to Stage 2, which is kind of strange. If you play through again you just keep returning to Stage 2 to start it all over again. The funny thing about that code was that even though the screen would freeze up on you while using it, if you switch the code off you still stay invincible but the screen will not freeze.

Now I am working on Argus, trying to find what the true ending to this one is. I am sure it is a looper, but I want to be 100%. Of course, the invincibility code eludes me on this one as well. I got the Lives address and searched 20 addresses above and below that one (setting them at 0) but no dice. If anyone has time to figure out the invincible code for Argus that would be awesome.

It is a Japan only game. Thanks a lot!

    [edit]
I actually just tried the code and it seems to just kill off all my ships immediately. 0083 80, correct? Weird.

try C0 for the value for some reason or another my game tells me thats the addresses value yet I set it to 80.

actually set it to B0 It gives you a kick ass sheild look. I think it's the explosion effect starting.

scratch that can't shoot. I set it to A0 It works excelent. Try reopening your rom after entering the code.

If you guys want to play a neat shooter for the FAM/NES, then you should try Recca. Very fun but really hard! I think I got to level 4 before I died. I don't think there are any codes for it yet so feel free to try for some (this game needs 'em badly)

I suppose I could but it's nice to see what other people can come up with for a change...
