Change is good. vB is far more feature-rich than any other board out there and gets updated far more frequently because it is commercial. I know you might not like it now, but give it some time. Some styles easily make it far superior to anything else I've seen in my ten-plus years of running a website.

Everything I have ever wanted for in PHPbb, SMF, etc. with hacks is included with vBulletin. The speedy upgrades and their consistant quality far surpasses the billions of message-boards GSCentral has lived on in its dominating reign.
Years of abstinence from VBulletin made me forgot why everyone considers it the best infrastructure of thousands of bulletin board communities.
