As stated by someone in that article, I too view open source as free speech. This is just a desperate move by the GOV (can't blame them though), but a really dumb one by constitutional standards.

    I weep.

I consider Open Source to be freedom of Speech, how's that rock your world government? This would in effect destroy programming languages as we know it, No more C, C+, C++, Basic, Open GL, Javascript, FLASH. Open Source is a VITAL BUILDING BLOCK to programmers, without it, it would be like trying to learn history without histroy books, tapes, cds or dvds or any other type of media!

If open source is piracy, then so is the entire internet practically (you can get the source to any web page: HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.).
Currently "retired" from hacking codes and being administrator of GSC.

It all bulls down to money, and unfortunatly the United States Government is no longer a democracy. It is more like a capitalist government. The Citizen's rights are being infriged upon. If open source is considered piracy, than that will pretty much destroy gaming in general along with other programs. OUR FREEDOMS ARE BEING TAKEN AWAY! WE MUST STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING!!!!

Such a shame that a world can be brought down by the same thing that runs it.

That wont go anywhere. The only reason the programmers release the source code for their works is because they don't give a shit about people downloading and modifying it.

Sounds like BS to me, all together it's the RIAA and the MPAA whining about being poor! Open Source is NOT Piracy but free speech. Seems to me that the government has their share in OS stuff...in other words I think the RIAA and the MPAA are being demanding for more share, they want money. The Government is probably say NO, their free speech power wiil be breached by this ordinance, it may happen if they go boo hoo enough! But this is wrong...the MPAA and RIAA whine about Apple and Netflix anyway..and those are legitimate companies.

Imo, having like a million people working on something and testing something is more effective than having like one company do it, release it, then look terrible for releasing something that sucks. Like most of the people who complain about open source have either never used it, couldn't get it to work, or hated it for some reason or another, and don't realize that shit changes and they might just like it if they try it again.

Thats like one big downfall of Linux is that when most people started to use it, it was all complicated, or they don't know much about it except what older people tell them, and older people tell them that it is command line based.

Default What the heck is going on here???

i wouldn't get in total commotion or weep

even though this sounds fake it could be very real

open source is piracy? thats just complete B%!!SH!T

open source isn't piracy unless its a closed source like mirc0shaft winblows

Piracy is stolen code you can't steal something without it being owned by some entity or person who making a d#mn profit off it

open source is free anyone can contribute

if it wasn't like that open source would be a closed source if the us government does such a thing they aren't just dealing with us but the whole world

capitalism? pretty obvious we are actually slowly become a socialistic government mainly why the US wants more control over everything and that will continue unless some big changes occur.

    The united states is broke

we owe third world companies millions and even billions of dollars not to mention out sourcing production of stuff to third world countries

    BY THE WAY

    2012 is collection time

very understandable as open source is used by the whole world!
