Heh, looks like it was done by some of the same guys that hacked the Wii.
The piracy will probably become an issue later on, but it would be very cool to see the possible homebrew on a PS3.
EDIT: I guess there's already some homebrew out with the release of those USB devices.
Currently "retired" from hacking codes and being administrator of GSC.

Only Downside to this is that Sony is currently tracking down all of them in order to prevent this. Hell I've found out that they've even got some sites on their hitlist as well. Just do a google search for geohot and you see what I'm talking about.

All of the information and hacks are freely available. Sony can try and hunt down people who participated with the hack but its really a waste of their resources. The hackers will retaliate and hack something else of theirs in the future, such as their NGP.

Indeed it is! I, personally, don't own a PS3, but it's something I might consider getting if hacking becomes available.
Although if I was gonna have to spend about 300 dollars on a console right now, I'd wait until the 3DS came out. :P
Currently playing a bunch of games that change all the time. Probably some video game or something like that idon'tknow
Hacking is available. I've been running games with cheats and such for over a month. It's not streemlined like the wii or anything but it's in the works. there is a USB stack exploit that will allow useres to install a custom PUP file to the system. this modified kernel removes the majority of security checks and allows for all forms of piracy/ homebrew.
BTW if I'm not mistaken the exploit is hardware based so it won't be defeated by an update. It's actually the exploit responsible for the PS3Key as it were called. Updates to the system can slow it down but ultimately I don't forsee any way of sony stopping this.
As for this new turn of developements that key was only a matter of time. That whole group has been working on this system for awhile.
I'd Like to Know How you're running cheats? Thats One thing I've been looking for as well. Also, yeah I kind of didn't read into it enough.

used patched eboot files. It requires the system signing keys though.

The keys are all over the web but a quick google will likely turn em up.
