GSCentral.org database of codes...Are all the codes from GSCentral.org's database already listed in this website's database of codes?
Um, no. A lot of this is untrue or spun information in favour of the incriminating party.Someone's answer: "Pretty much, yes. About the same time KW people split from GSC, a copy of GSC's DB found its way onto the net. As GSC's database was down for months on end, Blahblah.org (then Bsih.org) hosted a copy of this database (called BSFree), so the world could enjoy it. Most of GSC's veteran hackers had left for KW or BISH, and they agreed that the DB belonged to the scene, not the remaining GSC staff.
Since then, GSC has been adding codes to their database, but they're mostly ripped from sites like BISH.org. Lately, they have at least begun to give proper credit for codes.
We removed Rune's codes from our copy of BSFree, and sent out emails to as many hackers as we could find who had codes in the BSFree DB, requesting permission to add them to our DB directly. After a year, we received many positive responses, and zero negative responses, and thus began migrating all codes from the BSFree DB to our DB. It's a long and tedious task, but it's slowly underway. In the meantime, you can browse and search each one separately on the main page."
GSCentral has HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of codes that the stolen 2007 DB lacks! Yes, the database was stolen by some disgruntled former GSCentral members who had already chosen to leave by their own free will. As the people here can attest, they have not have a lot of luck in the 5 years since that split!
That database was available on GSCentral.org for everyone to access, with or without an account. Hacking into a server is illegal and a person can be prosecuted anywhere in North America. It is a criminal offence to hack into another server and re-distribute private information. It is not up to the people on the Internet to determine whether that information should be made available and freely given to others. Thousands of hours went into that database and most of the former members never lifted a finger to create that information. That database was never given freely to anyone and belongs to GSCentral.org, not any other website that has since decided to rename its origins or strip the original code creators from their respective codes.
The codes I have created have not been removed from that mangled and stolen database. Instead, those who are using the BSFree2 database illegally have instead chosen to lie to people in the scene and strip code credit from my codes with blank boxes and replace the original code creators with new code creators' names. The only website that still retains proper code credit for these butchered codes is GSCentral.org. Any other website that claims to be using an older version of our database is lying to you! They are also claiming that the original code creators have allowed this database to be available for "the scene" -- which is also simply untrue! These codes in question were all hacked for the benefit of GSCentral and were never submitted to any websites using a "BSFree" database. We have been giving proper credit to code creators since Day 1 back in 1998 and this will never change! We empower and will continue to empower code creators and create a positive mark on the scene while others spread dirty lies.
No e-mails were also sent out to code creators. If they had been, I would have received one. Never did I receive an e-mail nor did anyone else who has hacked codes ever receive one. All of the "positive spin" is another lie. How can you have negative feedback when you never sent out e-mails in the first place, asking for permission? It's just more spin and more lies to keep you contributing to the websites that are simply manipulating your emotions and keeping the truth away from you! Just be grateful that GSCentral.org is still around and is here to stay. :-)
Cheers!
Sincerely,
Rune
